Lightswitch Conference Report

On the 7th of April i went to the conference about Microsoft Lightswitch and it went for about 2 hours. The lightswitch conference was held by Andrew Coates. He was explaining how to use lightswitch, what it is and demonstrating how to use it. The Programming language he used with it was C# (C Sharp).

During the conference Andrew explained exactly what lightswitch was and clearly demonstrated the basics and advanced methods of how to use it. Unfortunately i did not understand most of the conference due to my lack of C# programming experience and the way he showed us how to use it was quite advanced. He also explained what it is generally used for and why it is better to use than other similiar software like sql. Andrew mentioned that “It is the easiest way to make business and cloud applications”.

I did a little bit of research about Microsoft Lighswitch. It is basically a supposedly faster and easier alternative to similiar software and can be used for desktop or cloud. It is supposed to save you a lot of time making databases and almost automatically make it look professional. Lightswitch can integrate with Microsoft Visual Studio, or it can work on its own in a visual studio shell. It is really very similiar to sql server, but it has a different interface.

The conference was held in the EN-EX 100 building at 100 st George terrace. The people in charge of the conference didnt really have a headquarters to go to, they are always travelling to explain and demonstrate Lightswitch to programmers around the world. There was about 9 people from our class attending the conference, and including us, there was about 50-70 people attending the conference. I heard about this conference from my classmates, and it was completely free to enter.
