To create a Text file, you do not need to leave Visual Studio and use a program like notepad. Instead you can just use the New File option in Visual Studio . Heres How;
1) Go to File > New > File ,at the top left hand corner

2) A Dialog box will appear with the different file types you can choose from, make sure text file is selected and the click Open

3) A Blank Text File will appear on its own Tab within your project

4) Go to File > Save Text File As...> Select where you want the file saved and give it a relevant file name. Then enter your text into the file and Save when finished.
